Pinch-hitter Joe Lahoud hit the first pitch from reliever Floyd Weaver for a three-run homer, giving the Red Sox a 4-3 win over the White Sox.  Bill Melton homered for Chicago.

Luis Aparicio (4-for-5, all doubles), Bill Melton (4-for-4) and Bobby Knoop (3-for-5) led a Chicago offense that took advantage of 4 Boston errors to score seven unearned runs in the first three innings, leading to a 12-5 White Sox victory.  Knoop, Ken Berry and Ed Herrmann homered for Chicago.  Mike Andrews and Carl Yastrzemski had home runs for Boston.

Ken Berry broke a scoreless tie with an 8th inning grand slam and the White Sox defeated the Red Sox by a 4-0 score.  Joe Horlen held Boston scoreless for seven innings but did not last long enough for the win.

The Boston Red Sox scored seven runs in the top of the 8th with the help of two Chicago errors, and beat the White Sox, 9-5.  Chicago starter Bart Johnson took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but lost a chance to win the game when his bullpen couldn't hold a 5-2 lead.  Both leadoff hitters had home runs -- Mike Andrews for the Red Sox, and Luis Aparicio for the White Sox.
