Ollie Brown and pitcher Pat Dobson homered, and Chris Cannizzaro went 3-for-4, to lead the Padres to a 6-2 win over the Cubs.  Don Kessinger homered and drove in both Chicago runs.

The Padres scored a run in the third on a balk by Ken Holtzman and added another in the sixth on an RBI-single by Cito Gaston to defeat the Cubs, 2-1, and take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Nate Colbert's infield grounder scored Ed Spiezio from third base with the go-ahead run to give San Diego a 3-2 win over Chicago.  Tommy Dean's two-run single in the second had given the Padres an early lead, but the Cubs tied it up on RBI singles by Joe Pepitone in the 7th and Ernie Banks in the 8th.

Padres lead series 3-0.

Cito Gaston drove in two runs with a 7th inning triple and later scored to give the Padres a 6-4 victory over the Cubs and a sweep of their series.  Gaston and Ollie Brown had three hits each.  Johnny Callison had a home run for Chicago.
