1990 Season

Oakland made it to the Series again in 1990, sweeping the third place Red Sox who had finished 15 games behind them.  In the NL, Pittsburgh finished 4 games ahead of both New York and Cincinnati.  But, since the Reds were in the West division (despite being located in Ohio), they got to play the Pirates for the title while the Mets went home.  Cincinnati upset the Pirates, and went on to sweep Oakland in the Series, but it might have been a different outcome had the Pirates been the NL representative.  We'll find out using Diamond Mind Baseball.
