2000 Season
In what is becoming a standard pattern for the Wild Card Era, the only races to speak of in either league were for the Wild Card slot. And the NL didn't even have that, as everyone knew the 4 Postseason teams for weeks before the season ended, instead of what would have been a dramatic 4-team race in which the Braves ran out of gas at the end and lost their bid for an unprecedented 6th straight pennant. All the Subway Series hype covered up the fact that we were seeing the 4th best NL team against the 5th best AL team. The League Leaders, Chicago and San Francisco, didn't even make it past the first round. In the Revisionist World Series, played using Diamond Mind Baseball, the Giants won in seven games to become World Champions.
