How to setup a baseball card show?

It has been years since I setup my own baseball card show. I am aiming for March of 2007. Any suggestions on how to set this up?

Probably the best starting point would be someone who has done it before. It could be a local person, or it could be someone from out-of-town. Give him or her a call and ask for some advice on how to set it up. (Pick up a trade publication, pick a show that has a phone number, and ask for help.)

The obvious starting point is the hall. You need a facility. Hotel banquet rooms or rooms in service organizations work nicely. I don’t know where you are geographically, but give some thought to an autograph sessions with a local athlete or two (paid or free) in order to generate some buzz.

Then you need to advertise locally. You need to attract dealers and customers through your ads. (If you know a dealer, or at least can visit a store, you might want to ask for suggestions.)

I’m not sure how much the national trade publications will help, but since you have a few months that can be an option at least. At least think about writing some sort of news release and sending it to the local media outlets. The weekly newspaper and pennysaver/shopping news might work nicely.
